Matthew was most recently Managing Director and Head of Crescent Capital’s $4.5 billion CLO Group responsible for building and managing all aspects of its CLO asset management business.  While at Crescent his responsibilities included strategy, marketing, investor relations, portfolio performance and team structure and management.

He has served as Chairman of the Loan Syndications and Trading Association’s CLO Committee and was involved in its successful bid to overturn the U.S. Risk Retention Rules.  He has also served on BNYMellon's Client Advisory Board.  During his 20+ year career in CLOs, he was responsible for several important market innovations. 

During his career in finance he was involved in the issuance and/or management of 25 unique CLO transactions totaling over $14 billion in assets.  His fundraising activities have taken him around the world many times over.  He has completed CLOs with many of the active investors and sell-side institutions and has worked with most of the top service providers.

Prior to joining Crescent Capital and its predecessor TCW over 20 years ago, he was Vice President in the legal department of Viacom Inc., working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and finance department. Prior to that, he was an associate at Dewey Ballantine LLP, a large New York law firm, focused on financing and securitization.

Matthew earned his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany graduating magna cum laude. He received his J.D. from Boston University graduating cum laude as well as being an editor of The Journal of Law and Medicine.

In addition to his current consulting responsibilities, Matthew serves on the board of the Business Loans Coalition as well as serving on the Board of Trustees of the Shaker Heritage Society.  He is also, along with his partner Allison, the owner of Miller Wertheim Antiques LLC, specializing in Shaker chairs, other Shaker objects, antique quilts and custom taping.
